Bi Yan Pian Diet Pills Recalled – Ephedra Spiking

The company behind the diet pill product Xanthium & Siler Combo (Bi Yan Pian) Dietary Supplement has announced a recall of the supplement because it contains unsafe (and potentially deadly) alkaloids of ephedra.

Two batch run numbers of Well Balance Xanthium & Siler Combo (Bi Yan Pian) are covered here:

  • Batch No. 130401
  • Batch No. 150201

In a statement announcing the recall Kingsway Trading acknowledged that tests performed by the US Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, found ephedra in samples the agency tested. Neither Kingsway nor the FDA has said what, if anything, prompted the tests in the first place.

Ephedra products sold as dietary supplements or diet pills have been illegal in the US for more than a decade. Any such product containing ephedra or components extracted from it are considered “adulterated”.

Ephedra, and products made with or from it, have long been controversial due to the potential risk of serious problems like heart attack and stroke. That risks exists even when the products are used in accordance with the manufacturer’s usage instructions.

The company says that the product, which is packaged in 100-count brown bottles with white caps, was sold directly to customers and to retail outlets in several states, including:

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Missouri
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Texas
  • Virginia

If you have any of this product on hand you are, of course, urged not to take any more of it. But you may return it to your place of purchase for a refund. If you would like more information, you can contact the company at (718)366-2300, Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
