UPDATE January 17, 2018: Pesta has agreed to a 5-year suspension of his credentials.
Washington State Department of Health announced recently that it has taken action against 3 massage therapists for their alleged conduct.
The most serious allegations are against James Michael Pesta. Pesta, who has been legally licensed as a massage therapist in Washington for 7 years, is accused of inappropriately touching a patient during a session. The official Statement of Charges against Pesta provided no other details. As of this morning Pesta’s credential status is still listed as “Active”. A formal enforcement action is “Pending”.
Also in trouble is massage therapist Suzan Marie Jon Douglass. Douglass recently entered into an agreement that fines her $250 for failing to prove she had completed a required amount of continuing education.
Bambi Williams, who was allegedly offering massage without actually holding a practitioner license, has been slapped with a cease-and-desist order. Williams has apparently never been credentialed for massage but was caught offering her service through Craig’s List.
