LeanPro8 Protein Powder By Labrada Nutrition – Recall, Allergy Alert

Houston-based Labrada Nutrition has announced a recall of its Lean Pro 8 whey protein powder due to food allergy concerns. In its press release announcing the recall, Labrada explained that a formula mishap put an egg ingredient into a package that does not declare eggs on the label. (Egg is, of course, one of the ‘big 8’ food allergens that must be declared in a specific way on food packages.)

LeanPro8 recalls, issues allergy alert.

Lean Pro 8 is recalled for a possible egg ingredient not listed on the label.

Multiple production codes of Lean Pro 8 are covered by this recall:

  • Lean Pro 8 Vanilla (5lb) Tub; Lot# 073437

These products were sent to stores and mail order customers nationwide, says Labrada. Neither the company nor the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has logged any reports of anyone consuming the powder and becoming ill.

The company says it has temporarily suspended production while it investigates. In the meantime, you may return your recalled whey powder to your place of purchase for a refund. And if you need additional info you can contact the company directly at 1-800-832-9948 during normal business hours.

As of my last check, it did not appear that Labrada had posted the recall information on its website or major social media accounts.
