Ideal-Air Humidifiers Recalled For Overheating

Hawthorne Hydroponics has announced a recall of its Ideal-Air humidifiers. In a press release issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company disclosed that it had processed five reports of the humidifiers overheating, presenting a fire and/or shock risk to anyone who handles a defective unit.

Hawthorne Hydroponics has announced a recall of 500 of its Ideal-Air humidifiers after multiple reports of the items overheating.

In all, fewer than 500 of the recalled humidifiers are believed to be in use. Around 70 are thought to have been sold in Canada and another 400 or so were sold in the US.

Despite the 5 reports of overheating, there have been no reports of any injuries.

All the recall humidifiers were manufactured in China. They were available as recently as June 2018 at stores like:

  • GreenCoast Hydroponics
  • Growers House
  • Hydro Pros
  • Urban Garden Center
  • Red Flag Products

New, each one sold for about $500.

If you have one of the recalled humidifiers you are urged not to use it. Return it to your place of purchase, advises the CPSC.
