Kimberly-Clark announced yesterday that it was issuing a recall of its U by Kotex® Sleek® Tampons, Regular Absorbency for what the company calls “a quality-related defect”.
The company won’t say how many consumer complaints it has received but admits that it has logged reports of the tampons unraveling or coming apart upon removal. A “small number”–as the company puts it–of those reports included stories of infections, irritation and injuries. Some women needed a doctor’s help to fully remove detached pieces.
The list of affected lot codes is extensive and can be found here. Obviously, if you have any tampons covered by this recall you are urged not to use them. These products were sold in the United States and Canada. Some were sent to stores as recently as October 2018.
No other Kotex tampons are being recalled.
