Two massage services providers find themselves in hot water with Washington State Department of Health, or WSDH, this month. The first is Ashley Bomberger. WSDH says it has issued a cease and desist order to Bomberger because Bomberger advertised and offered massage services but did not have a license to do so.
Bomberger must also pay a $1000 fine.
The other person to be called out in WSDH’s most recent press release about misconduct is Corina Marie Morin. Morin has been licensed in Washington for more than 8 years but for the past 3 of them has reportedly not submitted any proof of continuing education.
Licensed massage therapists in Washington are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years. In September of 2017 Morin claimed she had fulfilled the requirement and would submit the documentation proving it. An audit of her file turned up no record of those credit hours.
This is, said WSDH in the formal Statement of Charges, Corina Morin’s second consecutive failed audit of her CE fulfillment.
Morin’s licensure status is currently listed as “ACTIVE” with an enforcement action showing as “Pending”.
