While I understand that guest posting is a popular way to share information, I have never opened any of my websites up to guest bloggers and, to be candid, don’t see that policy changing anytime soon. Here are just a few reasons why:
- My readers trust me to give accurate, spiel-free information. Guest posts, on the other hand, are almost always used as a marketing tool.
- I am accountable to the FDA, the FTC and other organizations and vetting guest bloggers and their posts takes time.
- I live in a state that specifically prohibits most forms of “alternative” medicine. I have to take care to avoid even the appearance of practicing medicine. In my experience, most guest bloggers do not know where to draw that line.
- I don’t want to be seen as endorsing multi-level-marketing schemes, unproven therapies or unqualified practitioners.
Thank you for understanding. ~ Lisa
